PolicyMap Now Available to Library Patrons
UCR Library has now made the PolicyMap data and mapping application available to patrons.
PolicyMap contains data for the United States at various levels of geographic detail. Topics include demographics, income, quality of life, real estate, and education.
Over 150 authoritative public and proprietary sources generate the data. Among other features, PolicyMap allows users to create and customize maps easily, upload address-level data, and create market reports for predefined or custom areas.
It’s designed so users can focus their time on analyzing data instead of searching for it or learning to use mapping software.
Use this link to access PolicyMap, or find a link on the library’s webpage for databases.
Please send any feedback to Janet Reyes at janet.reyes@ucr.edu.

Expanded poster printing services at UCR Library
In response to faculty input about serving a broader range of the UC Riverside community, the library will expand its large-format (poster) printing services starting on September 25, 2017.
Poster printing is available Room 121 on the first floor of Orbach Science Library.
Changes to the large-format printing policy will include the following:
- Any academic material, with or without maps, can be printed
- The amount charged for the service will be determined based on the size of the final product:
- $20 for print jobs measuring up to 4’ (48”)
- $40 for print jobs measuring from 4’ (48”) to 8’ (96”)
- $60 for print jobs measuring from 8’ (96”) to 12’ (144”)
Jobs exceeding 12’ will not be accepted.
While the amount charged for this service is increasing, it is still affordable when compared to locally available alternatives.
In addition, patrons will leave with the product in hand approximately 30 minutes after arriving, compared to what is often a one or two-day turnaround elsewhere.

Science Library Pathway Project Construction Alert
UC Riverside's Architects and Engineers office announced a construction project that will impact areas surrounding Orbach Science Library, scheduled to begin on June 19, 2017.
The project's work hours will be from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm on weekdays, and will consist of removing, replacing, and modifying the existing concrete path across East Campus Drive.
This project will include the addition of a new ramp and concrete path between the Chemical Sciences building and Orbach Science Library, Physics, and School of Medicine building by adding a raised pathway where pedestrians cross East Campus Drive.
East Campus Drive will remain open for most of the project with a limited closure affecting drivers. A detour route will be provided and published in the next few weeks, to minimize delays. Any closures will be specifically defined in future construction project alerts.
In all instances, the Contractor will monitor activities in order to minimize any impacts to campus operations.
The UC Riverside Architects & Engineers team recognizes that construction activities will at times post inconveniences and disruption to the surrounding neighborhood. They appreciate your patience during construction of this project.
Please direct any questions regarding this construction project to Fernando Nunez, Jr., Project Manager, Architects & Engineers at fernando.nunez@ucr.edu.
