The UCR Library is proud to welcome our first AI Research Librarian, Dr. Inyoung Shin
Inyoung joined the Library’s Research Services team on Tues., Jan. 20, bringing a wealth of interdisciplinary expertise to this innovative new role.
With a PhD in Communication from Rutgers University and an MS in Computer Science from Yale University, Inyoung previously served as a lecturer and researcher at both Yale and the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Her academic background in new technologies and human–robot interaction makes her a perfect fit for UCR’s mission to lead in AI-assisted discovery.
“The AI Research Librarian title immediately caught my attention,” Inyoung shared. “While many people are talking about AI these days, there are still very few library roles specifically focused on supporting AI research services and AI literacy.”
In her new role at the UCR Library, Inyoung is looking forward to collaborating across disciplines to help students and faculty identify practical, ethical, and creative ways to integrate AI tools and AI into their scholarly work. Please join us in welcoming Inyoung to the UCR community!
