The University of California Libraries have launched a pilot project to make Oxford University Press books authored by UC-affiliated scholars openly available.
UC continues to lead in its commitment to open access publishing, and this initiative offers book authors a new path to broaden the reach of their work.
By removing paywall barriers, these books will reach a wider audience, increasing the impact of UCR’s scholarship. Faculty and instructors in under-resourced institutions, students at any college or university, and interested readers everywhere will be able to freely access and benefit from this research. Through the pilot, eligible books will be made available both on the Oxford University Press platform and in UC’s open access repository, eScholarship. They will also be discoverable via OAPEN, a major international library of open access books.
Funding to support this initiative is being made available from University of California Libraries specifically for this purpose. There is no financial contribution expected from participating authors, and this initiative will have no impact on any campus library budgets.
If you have any questions about this pilot project, please contact Carla Arbagey, Collection Strategist Librarian, at carlar@ucr.edu.
