Mihoko Hosoi

Dr. Mihoko Hosoi serves as UCR's University Librarian, the Chancellor's Designee for Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), and an adjunct professor at the School of Education. She provides strategic vision and operational leadership for the UCR Library. Reporting to the executive vice chancellor and provost, she is a member of the Academic Senate and serves on the deans’ council. She also serves on the UC Council of University Librarians (CoUL). 

She has over 20 years of experience developing and managing academic libraries, earlier at at Penn State, the California Digital Library (CDL), the Stanford Graduate School of Business Library, Cornell, UC Santa Barbara, and Duke. Prior to her library career, she worked in the airline and hotel industries in Japan. Mihoko holds a PhD in Higher Education from Penn State, a Master of Management in Hospitality (MMH) from Cornell, a Master of Science in Library Science (MSLS) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a BA in Spanish Language and Literature from Seisen University, Tokyo. Mihoko's tenure as UCR's tenth University Librarian began on October 27, 2025.
