Access Services Desk Assistant
The UCR Library is delighted to announce that effective Oct. 21, Ashley Coyne joined the UCR Library as an Access Services Desk Assistant.
Ashley’s office is located in Circulation / Reserves on the first floor of Rivera Library. She will report to Leslie Settle, Access Services Desk Coordinator.
Ashley earned her BA in Literature and Writing from CSU San Marcos, Certificate in Library and Information Technology from Palomar College, and is currently enrolled in the MLIS program through San Jose State University.
She has worked circulation at several public libraries; but most recently, Ashley served as a Library Assistant in Circulation at the Palomar College Library and as a Library Technician in Acquisitions at the Carlsbad City Library.

Erika Quintana
Erika's key responsibility is to identify, assess, and select resources of all types and in all formats and languages for collections supporting teaching, learning, and research in Area Studies, and to work closely with Special Collections & University Archives and the Collection Strategist for Arts & Humanities to ensure support of interdisciplinary programs. She also oversees US and California Federal Depository collections. She holds a B.A. in history from the University of California, San Diego and an M.L.I.S. from San José State University. Erika joined the library in 2005.

New Financial Services Analyst
UCR Library is pleased to announce that Nicole Valencia has accepted the Financial Services Analyst position in Library Administration.
Nicole will transition from her temporary role to a permanent UCR employee on Monday, December 19.
Nicole has over twenty years of experience working in accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, purchasing, cashiering and collections in higher education, construction, manufacturing, and retail.
Before coming to the UCR Library as a temporary employee on August 1, 2016, she spent most of 2015 working at Ashdown College of Health Sciences and at the University of Redlands in the first part of 2016.
As an Administrative Analyst in Planning and Budget, she will continue to process travel, reimbursements, and cash/check deposits.
Nicole will begin managing the supply orders and requests (Storehouse/OfficeMax) for the Library starting on Friday, December 16.

New Teaching Librarian
Please welcome Carrie Cruce to the UCR Library.
Carrie joined the UCR Library as a Teaching Librarian on July 5. As our Teaching Librarian, Carrie supports student success, especially in early experiences.
Carrie has a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan with a focus in Art History and two master's degrees from the University of Texas at Austin — one in Art History and the other an MSIS. Before coming to UCR, Carrie served as the Division Director of Learning Resources at Temple College in Texas where she managed the information literacy/library instruction program.
Carrie is looking forward to being an integral part of the UCR Library team and collaborating with colleagues and faculty. She’s excited to have the opportunity to use her professional experience to guide students in building the information literacy skills they need to be successful in their research at UCR, their future careers, and beyond.
Library Welcomes New Director of Distinctive Collections
Cherry Williams joined the UCR Library on September 6, 2016, as Director of Distinctive Collections.
Cherry will be located in Special Collections & University Archives on the 4th floor of Rivera Library, and will report to Alison Scott, AUL for Collections & Scholarly Communication.
Cherry earned her BS in nursing and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certificate from the University of Colorado, MA in humanities (with a concentration in art history) from the University of Chicago, and MLIS from UCLA.
She comes to UCR from the Lilly Library at Indiana University, where she has been Curator of Manuscripts since 2009, following work as Archivist, Special Projects Librarian, and Special Collections Librarian for the Sciences at UCLA’s Darling Biomedical Library. Prior to becoming a librarian, Cherry had a successful career as a medical professional.
Rivera Welcomes New Business Librarian
UCR Library is pleased to welcome a new Business Librarian Swati Bhattacharyya to the Rivera Reference team.
Swati joins us from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, where she has led the business school’s library since 1994. She holds a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree in information studies and technology from Syracuse University, a Master’s degree in computer applications from Indira Gandhi National Open University, and an Associateship in documentation and information science from the Indian Statistical Institute.
Swati’s primary responsibilities will be to liaise with students and faculty in the School of Business and Anderson Graduate School of Management, serve as the subject specialist for business and economics, and participate in the ongoing projects and services of Rivera Reference.
Anne McCaffrey Papers
Located in: Special Collections & University Archives
Anne Inez McCaffrey (1926-2011) was an opera singer and director, horse breeder, and writer.
She is best known as the author of the wildly popular Dragonriders of Pern series. Her Ship Who Sang stories and novels are also notable for their unusually sensitive treatment of disability. The material in the collection documents McCaffrey's writing process and includes the subject-based research that she did for her writing between 1957 and 1999.
Associate Director of Development
We are delighted to announce that Megan De Leon has joined the UC Riverside team effective Monday, July 24, 2017 as the Associate Director of Development for the UCR Library.
UC Riverside is in the midst of its first comprehensive development campaign, "Living the Promise," working to raise $300 million to enable the university to advance its impact in life-changing research, student success, teaching and learning, community development, and more. Megan's role will be instrumental in helping the UCR Library meet – and exceed – its campaign goal.
Megan has extensive experience in higher education, having served as Assistant Campus Director of Enrollment for the School of Business at the University of Redlands. She holds a M.B.A. from the University of Redlands and a B.A. from Cal Poly Pomona.
She also is an accomplished public speaker and president of a local Toastmasters club.
Megan will work closely with Director of Development Sam Lang to increase philanthropic investment in the UCR Library, thereby supporting the excellence of our faculty, students, staff, and community partners.
Human Resources Generalist
The UCR Library is pleased to share that Stacy Ramos accepted the Human Resources Generalist position in Library Human Resources.
Stacy is currently attending California Baptist University for her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources Management and spent nine years in a human resources generalist capacity at Napa Auto Parts before joining the University Library as an affiliate HR generalist in October 2017.
Stacy’s strengths as an HR professional consist of her experience creating organizational processes and procedures within a human resources environment. Throughout her career, she has been responsible for staff recruitment, benefit administration, compensation planning, staff and management training programs, employee relations and other key functional human resources generalist areas.
Additionally, Stacy has experience supporting student employees and was a key player in the Library’s conversion to UC Path. She brings with her an appreciation for the diversity of the campus, ability to facilitate an inclusive environment of mutual respect and administering human resources within a unionized environment.
